Description
Solid waste management has emerged as a significant challenge throughout Ghana, and the Zujung community is no exception. In Zujung, the issue is particularly acute with plastic waste, which continues to increase at an alarming rate. Large quantities of plastic waste are generated daily, much of which is improperly disposed of, leading to widespread environmental littering. Currently, the most common method of managing solid waste in the community is open burning, including the burning of plastics. While this may seem like a quick solution, it has serious long-term consequences for both environmental and public health. Although alternative waste management strategies exist, recycling stands out as the most viable solution. It is not only cost-effective and environmentally sustainable, but also offers additional benefits such as job creation for local residents and the provision of recycled granules as raw materials for plastic manufacturing industries. This study consists of five (5) chapters. Chapter One contains background to the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, scope of the study and organization of the study. Chapter two captures literature review to examine relevant information about the previous and recent researches that have been conducted on the topic recycling. Chapter three of the report contains the methodologies which includes research design, research instrument and data analysis. Chapter four of the report contains the analysis and discussion which is according to the research questions. And chapter five contains summary, conclusions and recommendations which includes the summary, key findings, conclusions, recommendations and suggestions for further studies.
